Custom Packaging Cutting Blades
Blades made to your drawing or sample for carton, tape, and film packaging lines. D2, HSS, or carbide, to your edge spec.
Packaging cutting blades built to your spec
Our custom packaging cutting blades are made to your exact profile, edge, and mounting. Whether you slit film, cut carton, or trim tape, we match the blade your packaging line needs — and we can reverse engineer the blade from your worn sample if the drawing is gone.
Materials we cut from
- D2 / SKD11 — high-wear tool steel for long production runs.
- HSS — heat-resistant edges for higher surface speeds.
- Stainless — food- and pharma-grade lines.
- Solid carbide — maximum edge life on abrasive materials.
Why buyers switch their blades to HIBO
Free sample (you cover freight), a 24-hour quote, and a 30-day production lead — versus the 35–45 days most overseas suppliers quote.
Typical applications
Film and foil slitting, carton and corrugated cutting, tape and label trimming, and pouch and bag converting. If your line packages product, we supply the industrial cutting blade for it.
What the geometry has to get right
Packaging blades are judged across a changeover, not on one job. The same edge has to cut film, foil and board as the run changes, and the geometry has to be tolerant enough to keep cutting when clearance is only approximately right.
On pouch and bag machines the blade also has to cut a seal without dragging it — a keen edge with no burr on the sealing side matters more than peak edge life.
Where a packaging blade fails
- Ragged cut on film. Edge dull, or clearance too wide for the gauge.
- Cut pulls or stretches instead of parting. The blade is crushing — check clearance and anvil condition.
- Chipping on board and carton. Impact from dust, staples or a misaligned anvil.
- Adhesive build-up on tape and label knives. Cleaning and geometry, not steel.
How we match an existing blade
Send the worn blade plus the material it runs on. We measure edge form, thickness and fixing pattern, and ask which materials the line actually runs — a blade tuned to one film can behave differently on another.
Packaging blade questions
Can one blade cover several materials?
Within a family, usually yes — but clearance has to be set per job. Geometry can be generous; the machine setting cannot.
Can you supply a trial quantity?
Yes. The free sample exists for exactly this.
Bag and pouch machines usually run the same pneumatic air scissors, while mask and hygiene lines use the mask machine blades.
