Foam & foil slitting blades built to your spec

Our custom foam and foil slitting blades are made to your exact diameter, bore, thickness, and bevel. Whether you slit polyurethane foam, aluminium foil, or adhesive web, we match the edge your soft material needs — and we can reverse engineer the blade from your worn sample if the drawing is gone.

Materials we cut from

  • D2 / SKD11 — high-wear tool steel for long production runs.
  • HSS — heat-resistant edges for higher surface speeds.
  • Stainless — food- and pharma-grade lines.
  • Solid carbide — maximum edge life on abrasive materials.

Why buyers switch their blades to HIBO

Free sample (you cover freight), a 24-hour quote, and a 30-day production lead — versus the 35–45 days most overseas suppliers quote.

Typical applications

Flexible foam and sponge slitting, aluminium and copper foil slitting, adhesive and tape converting, and soft nonwoven web. If your line slits soft material, we supply the industrial cutting blade for it.

What the geometry has to get right

Soft materials are cut with very little support, which is what makes them difficult. Foam compresses before it parts, so the edge has to be thin and keen; foil is thin enough that any burr on the edge becomes a tear. In both cases the cut depends on tension across the web as much as on the blade.

Adhesive and tape converting adds a third problem: the adhesive welds to any edge, and the build-up changes the cut long before the steel wears.

Where foam and foil blades fail

  • Foam cut compressed or torn. Edge dull, or blade speed and feed mismatched to the material.
  • Foil edge torn or burred. Edge radius or a nick — foil reveals edge damage immediately.
  • Adhesive build-up on the bevel. Clean and adjust geometry; the steel is not the problem.
  • Wandering slit on soft web. Tension, not the blade.

How we match an existing blade

Send the worn blade and a sample of the material. For foam we ask about density and thickness; for foil, about gauge and temper. Those answers decide the edge angle more than the drawing does.

Foam and foil blade questions

Can one blade cut both foam and foil?

Rarely well. Foam wants a keen, thin edge; foil wants an edge that resists nicks. Tell us which one is failing and we will optimise for that.

Can you supply a serrated edge for foam?

Yes, if that is what the machine uses. Send the existing blade so we match tooth pitch and depth.

Need a blade to a drawing?

Send the drawing or the worn blade. Free sample, you cover the freight.
