Custom Circular Knives
Rotary circular knives made to your drawing or sample for converting, textile, and nonwoven slitting. D2, SKD11, HSS, or carbide, to your OD and bore spec.
Circular knives built to your spec
Our custom circular knives are made to your exact outside diameter, bore, thickness, and bevel. Whether you slit textile, nonwoven, or converted web, we match the edge geometry your line needs — and we can reverse engineer the knife from your worn sample if the drawing is gone.
Materials we cut from
- D2 / SKD11 — high-wear tool steel for long production runs.
- HSS — heat-resistant edges for higher surface speeds.
- Stainless — food- and pharma-grade lines.
- Solid carbide — maximum edge life on abrasive materials.
Why buyers switch their knives to HIBO
Free sample (you cover freight), a 24-hour quote, and a 30-day production lead — versus the 35–45 days most overseas suppliers quote.
Typical applications
Textile and fabric slitting, nonwoven and hygiene lines, flexible converting, and thin web slitting. If your line runs rotary cutting, we supply the industrial cutting blade for it.
What the geometry has to get right
A circular knife is defined by four things: diameter, bore, thickness and edge form. Diameter sets surface speed. Bore and thickness decide how it sits on the shaft and how much it can be clamped without distorting. Edge form decides whether it shears, scores or crushes.
Because the knife rotates, balance and run-out matter as much as the edge. A knife that is geometrically correct but not flat will cut unevenly around its circumference.
Where a circular knife fails
- Uneven cut around the circumference. Run-out or flatness.
- Rapid wear on one section only. Something is out of alignment, or the knife is not seated flat.
- Cracks from the bore. Clamping stress or an over-tight fit.
- Chipping on hard material. Edge too hard for the impact.
How we match an existing knife
Send the worn knife. We measure diameter, bore, thickness, edge angle and any relief, then check flatness. If the knife has a keyway or drive feature, include it — that detail is where most mismatches happen.
Circular knife questions
Can you make a knife to a bore I specify?
Yes. Give us the bore and the tolerance that matters — a loose bore on a rotating knife shows up as run-out.
Do you supply knives in pairs?
Yes, where the application is shear cutting. Clearance is set between the pair.
