Paper trim blades built to your spec

Our custom paper trim blades are made to your exact diameter, bore, thickness, and bevel. Whether you run a rewinder, slitter, or corrugated line, we match the edge your paper web needs — and we can reverse engineer the blade from your worn sample if the drawing is gone.

Materials we cut from

  • D2 / SKD11 — high-wear tool steel for long production runs.
  • HSS — heat-resistant edges for higher surface speeds.
  • Stainless — food- and pharma-grade lines.
  • Solid carbide — maximum edge life on abrasive materials.

Why buyers switch their blades to HIBO

Free sample (you cover freight), a 24-hour quote, and a 30-day production lead — versus the 35–45 days most overseas suppliers quote.

Typical applications

Printing rewinders, slitter-rewinders, corrugated and carton trimming, and label converting. If your line trims paper, we supply the industrial cutting blade for it.

What the geometry has to get right

A trim blade looks simple until it is in the machine. Three things decide whether it cuts clean or throws dust: the squareness of the cutting edge to the mounting face, the flatness of that face, and how the blade sits once clamped. A blade that measures correct on the bench can still run out of tolerance, because the seat — not the blade — is what positions it.

On shear-cut trim stations the pair matters as much as the blade. Clearance is set by the relationship between top and bottom knife, so a replacement made correctly to the drawing of one half can still cut badly if the other half has worn.

Where a trim blade fails

  • Dust at the trim, sheet otherwise clean. The edge has rounded. Abrasive wear — replace it, do not re-shim it.
  • One side of the web trims fine, the other does not. Seating or side load, not the edge.
  • A visible step in the cut. The pair is mismatched — one half was replaced on its own.
  • Cracks running from a fixing hole. Mounting stress or over-torqued fixings; check face flatness before blaming the steel.

How we match an existing trim blade

Send the worn blade if you have one. We measure outside diameter, bore, thickness, edge angle, the position of every fixing hole and the relief behind the edge, then send the drawing back for you to confirm. If the blade wore unevenly, tell us where — that usually explains more than the dimensions do.

Trim blade questions

Can you make the blade slightly thicker to extend life?

Sometimes, but it changes clearance and clamp load. Tell us why you want it thicker — if the reason is edge life, a different edge geometry or material is usually the better answer.

Do you supply top and bottom knife as a pair?

Yes, and we recommend it. Shear clearance is a property of the set, not of each blade on its own.
