Custom Straight Knives
Long-edge straight knives made to your drawing or sample for guillotines and slitters. D2, SKD11, HSS, or carbide, ground to your length and bevel spec.

Straight knives built to your spec
Our custom straight knives are made to your exact length, thickness, bevel, and hole pattern. Whether you trim metal coil, paper, or rubber, we match the edge geometry your machine needs — and we can reverse engineer the knife from your worn sample if the drawing is gone.
Materials we cut from
- D2 / SKD11 — high-wear tool steel for long production runs.
- HSS — heat-resistant edges for higher surface speeds.
- Stainless — food- and pharma-grade lines.
- Solid carbide — maximum edge life on abrasive materials.
Why buyers switch their knives to HIBO
Free sample (you cover freight), a 24-hour quote, and a 30-day production lead — versus the 35–45 days most overseas suppliers quote.
Typical applications
Coil and sheet slitting, paper and board trimming, rubber and belt cutting, and long-edge converting. If your machine runs a straight knife, we supply the industrial cutting blade for it.
What the geometry has to get right
A straight knife is a long edge, and length is the problem. Over a metre, straightness and edge parallelism matter more than any single dimension: a blade that is straight when measured cold can bow once it is clamped.
The mounting pattern decides how it behaves in service. Fixing holes, slots and reliefs set how the blade sits against its bed, and an over-constrained mounting will distort a straight blade.
Where a straight knife fails
- Cut depth varies along the length. Bow, or a bed that is not flat.
- Edge wears unevenly along the length. Clamping or material feed, not the steel.
- Cracks at fixing holes. Over-torque or a distorted seat.
- Chipping in one area. Contamination or a localized impact.
How we match an existing straight knife
Send the worn knife. Over long lengths we also need the mounting pattern and the flatness requirement — tell us how the blade is clamped, because that determines how much bow it can tolerate.
Straight knife questions
How straight can you hold a long blade?
Tell us the length and the straightness your machine needs. We will confirm what we can hold for that length before quoting.
Can you match a blade with slots rather than holes?
Yes. Send the worn part so we match slot width, position and any relief.
Straight bar blades are the workhorse of mask machines. The paired mask machine blades and the air scissors that cut alongside them have their own pages.
Not sure which steel to order? The blade material guide compares HSS, D2 / SKD11, stainless and carbide against how each one actually fails.
