Cutting Blades for Plastics & Recycling
Granulator and pelletizer knives for plastic and rubber reclaim — made to your drawing or sample.
Built for lines that can’t stop
Recycling and compounding lines live or die by knife life. Our custom blades for plastics and recycling are made to your exact profile and edge — granulator and pelletizer knives for PET, PE, rubber, and cable. We can reverse engineer the knife from your worn sample when the drawing is gone.
Why buyers in Plastics & Recycling choose HIBO
- Free sample — a working blade on your machine before you commit to 100 pcs.
- 24-hour quote — from the day we receive your drawing.
- 30-day lead — vs. the 35–45 days peers quote.
- Reverse-engineer — send the worn blade, get the drawing and a sample.
Typical applications
Plastic film and bottle recycling, rubber and tyre granulation, cable reclaim, and compound pelletizing.
What wears first on a plastics line
Plastics are not abrasive — but almost nothing on a recycling line is pure plastic. Glass-filled and mineral-filled compounds carry hard particles that grind an edge down quickly, and post-consumer feedstock brings metal, sand and stone with it. Two different failure modes live on the same machine: slow abrasive wear from filler, and sudden impact damage from contamination.
Film and thin sheet add heat. Friction at the cut raises edge temperature, and thermoplastics can smear or weld to the bevel instead of shearing cleanly.
How a plastics blade fails — and what it tells you
- Edge rounds off fast on filled compound. Abrasion from the filler. Higher hardness or a different carbide grade buys life here.
- Random chips along the edge. Contamination in the feedstock. Screen or metal-detect upstream before changing the blade material.
- White or feathered cut edge on film. The edge is dull, or the clearance is too wide for the thickness.
- Material welded to the bevel. Heat, not wear. Check speed, cooling and edge finish.
Blades we supply for plastics and recycling
- Film and sheet slitting knives — razor, shear and crush-cut arrangements.
- Granulation and pelletizing blades — matched to your rotor and screen.
- Strand and cable cutting blades — reclaim and compounding lines.
- Trim and edge knives — for inline recycling of edge trim.
Plastics and recycling blades — common questions
Should I go harder or tougher for recycled feedstock?
Look at the failure, not the material name. Even wear across the edge means go harder. Chipping and impact marks mean go tougher — harder will fail faster.
Can you match the rotor blade set as a balanced set?
Yes. Granulator blades work as a set against a bed knife; we make them together and mark them so they stay together.
Do you regrind or re-coat used blades?
We do not run a regrinding service for used blades. What we can do is match the geometry from the worn part, so a new set drops in without touching the machine settings.
