Tobacco & cigarette blades built to your spec

Our custom tobacco and cigarette cutting blades are made from tungsten carbide to your exact outside diameter, bore, thickness, and edge. Whether you run a high-speed filter or rod cutting line, we match the edge your machine needs — and we can reverse engineer the blade from your worn sample if the drawing is gone.

Materials we cut from

  • D2 / SKD11 — high-wear tool steel for long production runs.
  • HSS — heat-resistant edges for higher surface speeds.
  • Stainless — food- and pharma-grade lines.
  • Solid carbide — maximum edge life on abrasive materials.

Why buyers switch their blades to HIBO

Free sample (you cover freight), a 24-hour quote, and a 30-day production lead — versus the 35–45 days most overseas suppliers quote.

Typical applications

Cigarette rod cutting, filter tip cutting, tobacco sheet slitting, and high-speed convertors. If your line cuts tobacco products, we supply the industrial cutting blade for it.

What the geometry has to get right

Tobacco cutting is a high-cycle application. The blade does not face heavy load — it faces a very high number of cuts per shift and a specification that does not allow variation between one blade and the next. Batch consistency matters more here than peak edge life on any single blade.

On rod and filter cutting the blade works against a drum or a fixed anvil; edge squareness and the flatness of the mounting face decide whether the cut stays clean through a shift.

Where these blades fail

  • Cut quality falls gradually over a shift. Normal edge wear at high cycle count — this is a consumable, not a fault.
  • One blade in a batch behaves differently. A batch consistency issue, not a wear issue. Worth telling us.
  • Edge chipped early. Foreign material in the rod, or a mounting fault.
  • Blade discolours or runs hot. Cooling or running speed, not the steel.

How we match an existing blade

Send the worn blade and tell us the machine and the cut rate. For high-cycle work we will discuss batch consistency explicitly: which dimension is critical, what tolerance the batch must hold, and how we will check it before shipping.

Tobacco blade questions

Can you hold a batch-to-batch tolerance?

That is the main thing to agree before ordering. Tell us the critical dimension and the tolerance that matters on your machine, and we will confirm what we can hold.

Do you supply coated blades?

We can discuss coating if edge life is the constraint, but we will not specify one without knowing the failure mode first.
